Stuck Giottos Twist Lock

I’ve a small Giottos tripod that I picked up for travel. Unfortunately one of the twist locks is stuck and the middle section of one of the legs is stuck half way down. I’ve tried removing the section and spraying oil into the lock but it’s still stuck.

Any ideas – other than the obvious bring it to the shop?

If you can get a vice / vicegrips to hold the twist lock & try to turn the leg section it might free it.

Try putting it in the freezer for an hour and using rubber gloves (for grip)
ease it back and forth a little until it moves.

I tried the vice grips. The lock just rotates itself (tightly) around the leg without engaging. Must try the temperature trick.

    Any luck Aidan ?

I had this problem with over-tightening the twist lock on my Giottos tripod. It seemed to be airlocked & I got it to free by leaning on the tripod & used a vicegrips to loosen it. Just be careful not to put too much weight / grip on it.
