    I hope some of you made it to the protests today in Dublin, I only made it to the student fees march to the dail but it was exciting nonetheless! Political views aside it was impressive to see 15,000 people take to the streets. Democracy, ain’t it great?

    I definitely wasn’t the only one taking pictures but here’s my viewpoint;

    Some nice shots.

    Excuse my ignorance, but what were the students protesting about?

    (Let me guess: they currently get a handout and someone’s threatening to
    withdraw it? That’s what it usually was when I was a student.)

    That’s basically it! No unjust wars, it was against the possible reintroduction of college fees.

    Dunno if this is sarcasm or not, but ive spent the last 4 years in college and university, between the work and working part time ive had no time for myself, im still heavily in debt and i barely had to pay any fees. Ive to take a year out and do a boring soul destroying job to pay back my loans before i can even think of applying for a masters course.

    My girlfriend is from norway and has to pay 8000 sterling a year to study and another friend pays 12000 sterling a year, and these are just so they have the privilege of going to university, not to mention materials for the course, rent, food and socialising, gas, electricity ect. Considering the average wage for a post-grad is about 12-14000 sterling a year.

    Do you really thing working and studying is a good idea? Surely the working should come after you are qualified to do a job.

    Ps, nice pictures, :D some great shots of the crowd getting involved. I especially like 2, 4 and 5

    Students are dead right to protest; as are the OAPs…..neither has a representation in the (now metaphorical) tent at the Galway races.

    its a sign of the times though, things are getting tougher and will continue to do so…..

    number 3 for me Desmond.

    What are the dates again for this exhibition in Arbour Hill?
