Studio Portraits for c & c
Here are some studio portraits taken c & c. There was no theme beyond portraits with a slight vintage/slightly retro kind of look and feel.
Aiming to get a certain composition and mood.
Thanks for checking – the full sized ones plus a few more are in the flickr.
jb7ParticipantVery nice Gerard-
I like the pose in the first,
but I think the background could have done with some tidying up-Second is lovely too-,
but the lighting is maybe a touch contrasty-
the left side of the face seems very bright-I’m a little confused by the third-
Of course you’re very much helped by a lovely model too-
j
gerardkParticipantI think in the third one she is looking down at your avatar going – what the hell is that ? hehe.
neilwhiteParticipantI like these alot. Especially the first one.
Can I ask what kind of lens you used for these?gerardkParticipantneilwhite wrote:

Can I ask what kind of lens you used for these? Thanks glad you liked them – they were done with the canon 50mm 1.4 on a 20d, the bw one was at 1.4 the rest were a bit slower.
ExpresbroParticipantLove the first one… though the right hand side of her face looks a little blown on my screen. Has a nice 40’s look to it.
Have to say she is one of the most beautiful models I’ve ever seen on here…really classic look about her.
Mick451ParticipantReally like the first and second, not gone on the third.
Can’t fault them, cos I do like the look and style of them – very cinematic.Coupla suggestions
On the first one I’d like to see her not so central in the frame, probably more to the right as if she’s moving out of the frame looking back. The central framing gives it too much stillness, for me inanyways.
Second one, the lighting is yummy and her position in the frame is spot on. Only thing I would consider would be to have pulled back more so we see more of the pose.
Lovely stuff though buh inanyways like.
LucParticipantThe first one is too centered and the background is disturbing. Really nice colours and expression, though.
The third one has a large hot spot area and is also too centered in my humble opinion.
The second one for me is the best. Good composition and the position/expression of the hand is interesting.AllinthemindParticipantsecond shot is a good un alright. The compositions of the other 2 don’t really add anything to Carrie’s expression.
