Sunrise A or Sunrise B?

fishjam45Participant
Hi all,
I’m thinking of entering into my first photography competition and cannot decide between Photo 1 or Photo 2?
Which one would you guys go for?
AiscathParticipant2 lovely shots though maybe a little too much sky for me and a little too much foreground in no.1 . Fav would be no.2
phtgrphrunknownMemberPixelleMemberIs there a little pincushioning [is that the correct term?] to the horizon in [2] ?
I voted for the second one, the sun is a bit lost in the first.RodcunhaParticipantI would also favour Nr. 2 for it’s composition, in my opinion there is a better balance in the Nr. 2’s composition.
RobMemberI’ll go against the general consensus here and give my vote to
number one. Overall it’s a sharper image than the second.
Cropping to letterbox format may help the composition work
a little better if you give one third to foreground and two thirds
to the sky. Also, you’ve got a couple of dust bunnies – sky on the
left. Cloning tool will come in handy here.
Love sharp image.Rob.
SodafarlMemberHave to agree with Rob on this one and go for No1, i prefer the full shot with reflections etc.
Sodaandy mcinroyParticipantIt’s number 1 for me, although I also think it needs a crop.
This might be such a situation to consider a horizon across the centre line.
I particularly like the reflection in the 1st.
Andy
fishjam45Participantthanks for the comments guys
I still haven’t decided on which photo to submit though . . . hmmmmm . . . .
I’ll let you all know when i doeddie65ParticipantKiltubberParticipantdavenewtParticipant2 for me, 4 what it’s worth. Love the silver (golden?!) lining of that cloud… I think I would crop something like 1/3 sea, 2/3 sky though (lose half of the sky at the top)… to get rid of the top fuzzier line of clouds.
Possibly?
D.fishjam45ParticipantI ended up sending photo number 1, after a little more editing of course :)
Cropped a small bit of the sky and the ocean and got rid of (all i hope) the dust bunnies.
It looks better anyway, thanks once again guys for the c & c
RobMemberGood choice Colin, in my humble opinion of course.
Best of luck in the competition.Rob.
