Well done, I think the three landscape formats work the best, just a bit to much
empty space in the other two, nice colour in the sky, but the foreground is a bit
lost in shadow, it could be brightened a bit in post processing.

Enjoy getting to know your new camera, look forward to seeing more!

    nice images, well done.

its hard to shoot at that time of day/evening as your camera
most often will meter the light in the sky which in turn will
leave the ground under exposed as is the case above.
the sky is exposed well leaving little detail below it.

    3 options for shooting again:
    1. post process to try and lighten the dark area, this can result
in a lot of “pixels” being exposed making it look low quality
    2. use tripod and expose 2 images, one for the sky and one for the ground
and join then together in post processing.
    3. use a neutral density graduated filter, this will reduce the amount of light from
the sky area allowing a more balanced exposure!

    trial and error!

    or

    surprises and frustration !!

Thanks for the advice, Next time I’ll try the double exposure. Just have to figure out how to do it in Lightroom now

George, don’t know what camera you got, but some of them will do a double
Exposure merge for you, take one shot exposing for the sky and one for the
ground and the camera will do the rest!

Thanks Jenny, it’s a Canon EOS 1100D I’ll have a look and see if it will do the double exp.
