C&C please.

AnonymousParticipantf-27:To infinity and beyond… :D Lovely image JJ,there is such drama in that sky, last time i seen that much drama was at sunrise at the Uluru’s in Oz. Simply stunning.
BenPeteTheBlokeMemberAmazing sky. Great colours. It’s hard to see what’s going on at the bottom – it might be nice to see a bigger version.
Brian_CParticipantI love the atmosphere in the clouds, kinda gives a dark angry feel to it. It goes to show the rule of thirds can be smashed form time to time. Lovely image.
PeteTheBlokeMemberBrian_CParticipantPete I bow to your superior knowledge and experience, but to me it does. Horizon is defo not on any rule of third lines or intersections, it?s almost on the base of the image and the sun is right bang on the centre vertical, granted it’s near the bottom. The clouds do take up 2 thirds of the image. It may not blow the rule out of the water but it’s defo not an example of thirds. Either way it’s a lovely image.

Ben,
Given the distances no need for f27 in the end, but I was working on manual setting and held the f-stop from earlier foreground type shots – will scan and post these for further discussion.
To me the picture is about the sky. I deliberately ignored all the rules in this shot given the great sky that was right over my head – so I pointed the camera up.

No, no, no. Please don’t say that, I’m a raw amateur. I was just illustrating the fact that the cloud line basically follows the lower horizontal.
jjmlParticipantHere’s another shot taken at the same time with closer observence of composition rules.
John
neilmcshaneParticipantMuch Better than the first image. Think of a landscape image with the foreground, middleground and the background in mind and you will have a much better image.
NeilBrian_CParticipantJohnParticipantI much prefer the first one. as Ben said So much Drama simply smashing
ValentiaMemberI think the first one works very well. Sometimes centering the sun works and it does here. The shot is about the sky but the sun radiates my focus to tour the scene, if that makes sense.
The second shot is nice but doesn’t have the same impact on me.
jb7ParticipantI like the first one, but I think the drama is in the form, and the saturation could be turned down, maybe even more than in Pete’s edit-
