Full Moons vary in size because of the oval shape of the Moon’s orbit. It is an ellipse with one side (perigee) about 50,000 km closer to Earth than the other (apogee). Nearby perigee moons are about 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than lesser moons that occur on the apogee side of the Moon’s orbit.
    C&C welcome

    Hi Connie,

    Very well done with this.
We had rain so no view of it at all.

    Nice description too.

    Cheers,

    John.

Well done Connie, very nice image with good detail.
Actually I am green with envy as I had been planning to get such a shot all week and then the weather turned :(

Thanks guys :) I got really lucky with the fact that we had very minimal cloud cover. I am pretty pleased with this :)

Thanks Esther. I did crop this in raw edit, darkened the backround and sharpened it up a little in PS. Here are my settings if it helps any.
Camera Canon EOS 500D, Exposure 0.008 sec (1/125), Aperture f/9.0, Focal Length 200 mm ISO Speed 400,Flash Off,
Exposure Program Manual, Max Aperture Value 4.0, Exposure Mode Manual, White Balance Manual, Scene Capture Type Standard Subject Distance 4294967295 m.

I particularly like the fact it even told me how far away it was lol

Thank you so much for that, Connie, I printed out your tips, I’ll have to give it a try it when there’s a full moon soon and a clear sky! :D

Excellent capture Connie, I was on a beach in New Zealand waiting for the moon
to rise….had an impatient husband that was hungry and wanting his dinner so
couldnt wait any longer :( I really wanted to see if the bellybutton was up the top

    Well done!

    Thanks Miki and Jenny.
Jenny I love the fact I am not the only one who thought it looked like a belly button!
