Posted a few shots in the introduction section and everyone was getting stuck in straight away which was great but I thought i’d move it over here though so as to get some full on critique and to avoid stepping on the admin’s toes on my first post.
Would appreciate your likes, dislikes and ideas
Cheers
Pete :)
TinyMemberphotospecMemberGreat shots Pete What camera and waterhousing did you use for the shots taken in the water.

I can’t believe this post hasn’t got more comments. The first photo is a stunner. The silhouette of the surfer works well and the colours in the wave are amazing. Are the colours natural or is it post processing. Either way it’s a great result.
The wave looks great in the third but the surfer being cut off takes away from the photo. It looks as if your about to get cleaned out cleaned out by that wave.

PeteFlemingMemberi appreciate the comments thanks guys.
I’m using a 40d and i have a Liquid eye housing for it. http://www.liquideye-whs.com/
All i’ve done is boost the saturation a bit in processing nothing else. That’s about as far as my post processing skills go :D
I was pretty bummed out on the last shot. Dunno why i had my camera flicked to a portrait orientation. shot would be a million times better if it wasn’t. way too much dead space in the bottom of the frame. Lesson learnt with that little experiment.

miniscottParticipantExcellent, The First shot is great brillant. Crazy looking Lip, was this caused by backwash?
flynnyParticipantThese are fine shots Peter,
where did you take them,
Whats involved? do you sit on your own board and shoot from there?
I’ve tried taking some surfing shots ,but can’t seem to find a location with surf like you have here.
Well done ,keep em coming.PeteFlemingMemberyeah it’s all about location location location.
these were taken in France and Clare.
Just knowing where to go isn’t half the battle though it’s when is the big question.
i don’t use a board to sit on. i prefer to swim around. sitting on a board limits you to sitting wide of the wave and requires a better zoom lens than i have. :)
if you want to shoot surf you’re best off finding a surfer who’ll act as a tour guide. some many different variables and so many different spots.
cheers
Pete
