Very interesting composition and well constructed. There are others on PI who know more about portrait photography who will give you some useful feedback – for me, I like it.
I’m not the one who would know much about portraits or people photos, but I can’t help commenting on this.
I like the model, she looks very interesting.
Just a few things I think that look odd to me or could have been done differently (not saying, better):
– Her eyes look a bit squinted, they are half closed. Her left eye in particular looks sleepy.
– Her shoulder and hand are in an awkward position, she looks like she was pushed and held to the window. She could have arched her back, and pulled her shoulder out of the frame… Or the framing could be looser to give her shoulder and hand some room to get a function in the image.
– I love her lips, I think, that’s her strongest asset. I would have put her mouth in the light and her eyes into the shade… maybe then she would have been more relaxed in the eyes, too. [edit: Plus, you could have lit up her eyes with a reflector or artificial lighting]
Lovely model, you’re very fortunate to be working with her-
However, I’m not sure you made the most of your opportunity,
Zoltan’s suggestion of putting the eyes in shadow is a good one,
especially if there was to be no other lighting-
the contrast is a little high,
and some fill might have helped-
I think the main difficulty with this shot is the tightness of the framing-
with such strong shadows, pulling back a little bit might have added to the mystery of the shot,
and made it more seductive-
as it is, it’s perhaps too direct-
in my opinion, obviously-
