I took this during last summer.i went to get the sunset and the swan came over to me.after trying for a while to get his silhouette in the setting sun,i turned on the on board flash and took this. Canon 20D and Kit lens. C&C appreciated.

Conor, This looks great, good sky with the sunset and swan in the foreground, one suggestion I would make would be to crop out some of the sky above the clouds at the top. :) Happy shooting. John.

I like this shot but I would go along with what Kiltubber said or if you could have pointed the camera down more to loose some of the top of the sky and include all of the swans reflection in the water. Highlights also a little blown in the clouds. With that said overall I really like the photo.

A lovely composition, and GREAT capture of the lovely sunset… but the flash off the swan really just doesn’t do it for me. The harsh flash light just looks so flat compared to the gorgeous light of the sunset.

Yeah,i know what you mean about the angle, but believe me,this was the only one i could get.I was lying on my belly right at the waters edge for this.

I also really like it, and while agreeing with the idea to crop from the top, also maybe the idea of even a splice into two seperate pictures that would both stand very well on their own. got the idea from my computer when scrolling down trhrough and the upperhalf about the swan on it’s own makes a clear sunset shot with the reflection also caught on the water. :) making 3 great pics from one!

I suggest lot of time crops (cropping evil  :D ) but I would not do here.
    It has some magic atmosphere.

I have to agree with all that Antifuse said and i also think the dust spots take from this shot greatly, especially the ones around the head of the swan, they could be removed using clone or heal brush in photoshop and you should have your sensor cleaned by the looks of it.

those dust spots are actually midges, this was taken back in the summer. I spose I should clone them out though.
