Niall, totally agree with Tony on these 2 smashing shots, are they first swimming shots on PI not often something different pops up wait till you see you started.
What gear did you use I’m sure the lighting wasn’t great.

For anyone thinking about going out to take some snaps at their local swim gala, please check with the organisers, even if shooting from gallery. Swim Ireland and many pools are very clear about use of cameras (recording equipment) for very obvious reasons.
Great photos – well captured, first one is class. keep it up
TinyMemberHi guys, thanks for the comments, I shot these with a nikon D300 with an 80-200mm lens as at 1000 1/500 shutter or 1/400 depending on the light f2.8 ( not all the pool lights were were working and i was lucky to have a glass atrium over me which added to the lighting.
But i would like to echo what was said in the previous post about taking photos at swimming pools, its not allowed with out the organizers permission,( and in public events not allowed at all ) and even then, no shots of people under 18 on the pool bank, head and shoulders shots only in the water. The people in my shots are seniors, over 18, and i was there with the permission of the Irish Water Safety, and am an Irish Water Safety Instructor.
Thanks
Niall
jessthespringerParticipantThat first picture is really brilliant, just everything about it works really well.
I think the second might look better in mono. Like it though.
