It’s in Wales. Only a fraction of the Red Kites in the UK are tagged. There’s a few tagged ones in my shots but the tags are easily removed in PS.
Thats another fine shot Aidan, great detail and perfectly exposed.

Probably the best one so far Aidan for me. The others are good but the brighter backgrounds only help to wash out the detail that can be seen in the plumage. There’s a nice bit of action and anticipation in this one and the plain background helps.

Thanks folks. This was easilly my best shot of the weekend. It was what I was aiming for that weekend: Kite with trees behind it. Reason being that on 2 days it was raining so a washed out grey sky would suck and the one sunny afternoon we had there was very little cloud to add interest to the sky. The wind seems to decide how the Kites (and Sea Eagles before) approach their food so I only had a handful of chances to get a shot. Red Kites are built like and fly like Swallows. They’re very hard to keep focus on or keep in the frame. Movements are sudden. There’s a whole lotta luck involved.
Amazing what a camera can capture in less than a second, really good shot, I like it!
