I’ve had my eye on this angle for a long time, but never had the light I wanted anytime I was going past (or worse crime, did occasionally have the light but didn’t have the camera  ) The current lovely summer we’re having did turn up the goods last night however.

Great shot John, I’ve been planning to head out that way but the weather makes me change my mind.

    Stunning sky!
Really amazing detail. Wonderful dark and bright layers.

However, overall the image seems a little unbalanced to me.
On the top seems to be too much brightness or not enough of that dark band at the very top.

I also find that the grass and buildings could have done with some more punch contrast wise to match the drama in the sky.

I converted 2 exposures for foreground and sky in Lightroom to mono (3 stops difference), blended the results in Photoshop, then used curves layers to control contrast in the various regions

It’d be fairly straightforward to do this Hauke, as I have the unflattened PSD workfile (hey, disk space is cheap these days :)) I was try to be restrained so’s not to have the foreground too bright with relation to the sky, but I take your point, and you could well be right. I’ll revisit and have a look

    Very good John,

Superb atmosphere. I also think a little more contrast in the lower section might bright out the highlights of the building a little more.

But just look at that sky and sunbeams, Excellent.
