nice shot, good and sharp. The sharpness of the bridge contrasts nicely with the soft water. In relation to the composition, as I look at the pic I am almost leaning to the right to try see the rest of the bridge, not sure if thats good or bad
RaVMemberI agree, the composition, light and long exposure are all very nice. But with a straight horizon it will feel alot more solid.
Green glensParticipantThanks for the feedback Ras. Regards the composition, the setting sun was illuminating this side of the bridge
at the time and that seemed the place to be.
I took this from the other side….John!DougLParticipantWow…I like that side of the bridge a lot better. I think it might be worth getting up early to get the sunrise on the other side!

Thanks for the critique Conal. I don’t think this could be classed as a horizon, rather a landscape. A horizon is in my opinion where sea meets
sky but I stand to be corrected on this……John!Green glensParticipantDougL wrote:

These type of pictures generally always work better in B&W. Go into PS and convert to B&W, then go into the brightness/contrast tool and up both the contrast and the brightness. Think it works much better that way….
5faytheParticipantHi John,
I like both these photographs.
Being partial to the light at either end of the day I do like the colour.
I can see that mono might be worth a try too.
I like the sweep of the bridge through the frame in #2.
I do think #1 would be better if the “horizon” wasn’t sloping.
I can’t argue what the definition of “horizon” is but to my eye
the image looks as if it is sloping to the right. The bridge in #2 could possibly be dodged a little but I’m not 100% sure.
Two very nice photographs.
Well done.
John.
