I’m not sure if this is the right place, perhaps it’s more restaurant than food.
This is a teppanyaki restaurant, teppen is the hotplate and yaki means to fry or grill.
The food is cooked in front of you, and is very simple but very high quality lobster, prawns, veg and Japanese style beef.
Not for recessionary times, but on Valentine’s day it had to be done. Shot on film; negs scanned & pp’d.

I think, a 4×5 or 6×7 format would be perfect for the first two, I’d crop from the bottom… and I like the last one as it is… or maybe just a play with the Curves to get some more detail in the shadows.

The first one is my favourite, the lights and colours are beautiful.

Thanks for the feedback, I think you are on to something there. I do like the 4 x 5 ratio, its very strong, so I put a couple of quick recrops below.
I think the colours are better in the first as I’m using Fujifilm Pro 400 against Fujifilm 1600 in the other 2, as far as I can recall.
I’ll have a play with number 3, there is definitely shadow detail in the neg but I pushed it out in my pp.
    Cheers,

Excellent shots Martin. Full of concentration and atmosphere .
A great Teppanyaki place in Belfast called Harbour view. Food is superb but a tad expensive but worth trying and the personal chef service is superb.
