Tried not to be tooooo over the top with the photoshop on this one. I’ve had it for ages and had been meaning to do something with it.

Wow sancho, it lookslike you’ve been busy.
It’s a really cool example of what you can do with PS.
For me the rays of light are a little too uniform.
I reckon the image with just the lighting would work just as well.
    Nice one though

Fantastic processing Sancho, love the final image though I agree with Graham that you could improve on the rays behind to make them more real!

Still a fantastic post processing job!

    Well done,

yeah i wasn’t sure how to make them more real, every time i feathered the selection it selected away from the statue. What techniques would you guys use? I was just playing around really, so i’d love to know how to do it better.

Cheers for the comments as always

I might be tempted to go the other direction and give it a really heavy treatment, I’m thinking it might be a great candidate for a little manual colouring. If you increased the contrast in the statue itself, go as far as you dare without loosing the folds in the cloth, then turn the sky red with the beams yellow, make the division crisp, maybe even add a black outline to seperate the rays fro mthe background. Done right you could have a fantastic stained glass effect that wasn’t cheesy. The lightning would even work if you gave it a thin black outline and maybe a blue tint.

Yeah i was thinking of going all out on it, perhaps in the style of one of those cool Russian propaganda posters or Japanese woodblock effect maybe.
