The Dublin markets area

I caught this forklift in front of the fruit and vegetable market. I believe they intend to banish the traders and gentrify the place.

I like the conversion here and the whole mood of the shot. I do think though that
the image needs to be cropped to remove the guy in the bright tee shirt left of frame
and rotated to use the near corner of the building as your true vertical.
Something like this very quick edit…Edit: Only just realised you don’t allow editing of your pics. Sorry about that.
Shame about the parked cars and the traffic cone, but not a lot you can do about that.
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantjoolsveerParticipantI always seem to find it hard to spot which vertical or horizontal to use to straighten up. Thanks for the feedback. I will get the original out and work on it.
As I shoot more frames I find management of my photos an awful nuisance. Has anybody got a cheap and cheerful method that works?
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantJools, the best thing to do, is to look at the picture and try and find a horizontal or vertical line to use as a guide with your eye…in this instance…if you look at the horizontal drainpipe of the markets in the background…you can then see whether it is horizontal or not…
ExpresbroParticipantDave, I find the best photo management software I’ve used to date is Googles Picasa. It catalogues any new images added automatically and presents them in a fairly straightforward manner.
I’m sure there are probably better ones available to buy..but it’s free and it has a fairly nifty basic photo editor.

8)ExpresbroParticipantPlus it has a fairly handy “Straighten” function which you can use to check alignment..meant to say that as well… :D
EddieParticipantI do hope the market building remains intact. Its a beautiful building especially the iron work on all the outside windows. Its great photography as shown here and especially early morning when it at its most lively.
ExpresbroParticipantAgreed Eddie… hopefully common sense and a sense of history will prevail….
But I wouldn’t hold my breath!!
LoGillParticipantas far as i know the building is to be peserved as part of the devlopment.. but it will push the traders and other dubs further and further away from the city, which is very sad ;(

earthairfireParticipantLove the forklift in the foreground – really makes the shot.
I’d echo the ccw rotation comments, and maybe a little distortion to bring it fully in line, but lovely composition.
The cars / cone / pedestrian on the LHS are all a touch distracting, but without “faking ” the shot and recreating it, ths would be a tough shot to get.
