The Four Courts – Dublin
-
RodcunhaParticipant
Hi Ladies and Gents,
First of all let me wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a 2007 full of photographic success!
The four courts building is fascinating in it’s amazing Neo Classical Architecture, this building was the first photo I took when I arrived in Ireland, yelding my camera phone from the window of the bus I took a blurry snap of this amazing building and tried in vain to send it via text message to friends and family in my native Portugal so that they knew I had arrived ok. Ever since that day, every time I return to Dublin and I have some time in hand I try to photograph this building, Day or Night, Rain or Sunshine, no matter what I make my way through the Quays and try and get a shot or 2 of this amazing architectural work.
Here is one of my latest efforts taken already with my new Nikon D80… hope you like it…
As usual, all comments and critique are very much appreciated…
Kind Regards,
Rod
PeteTheBlokeMemberI like this one Rod. I think there might have been more river without spoiling it. Not sure.
It’s an attractive photo, anyway.
jb7ParticipantI’d be with Pete on this one-
Perhaps too much emphasis on the building on the corner too-
But you’re right-
a subject that merits constant revision-j
RodcunhaParticipantThanks guys for your kind comments,
I understand what you mean JB7 about the building…
here is another straight from the camera no digital processing other than adding the canvas border.
earthairfireParticipantFor me the top one takes the prize out of the two of them – very postcard style shot!
I’d maybe rotate CCW a couple of degrees, as it looks a little skewed, but other than that, great shot, with a lovely border.
Nice job!
Tim
joe_elwayParticipantI really like the first one. Second one is a tad dark for me .. but I do like the green in the river. Funny, I was looking at it yesterday morning and wondering how I would shoot it if I tried.
RodcunhaParticipantThanks both for your comments, they are very much appreaciated!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2007!
Regards,
Rod
joolsveerParticipantNot Pete the blokeParticipantReally like that first image Rod – I think it would probably sell. Nicely composed, great colours and well presented. Keep them coming.
RossconstantineParticipantLove the cropped shot.
Can’t help but wonder when looking at it, about all the people who have been through those doors and events that have unfolded and change some of their lives forever.
I love pics like this, ones that really make me pause and think.
Ken
dublindaveParticipantFirst one for me. Lovely capture.
I love coming here and seeing photos of Dublin.Dave.
LoGillParticipantI really like both .. really nice shots of a much loved building :)
If i HAD to pick I’d go for the second.. the perspective on the building is more pleasing to me personally..
Nice work :) could be a good subject for Rob’s “Seasonal project idea”
