The Ghost Train.

    Hi everyone,

This is a recent one I’m really not sure about…… everything seems a bit central but whatever way I crop it doesn’t seem quite right, any thoughts from all you experts out there?

    Thanks in advance,

I dunno, i think its fine the way the train is central..Maybe crop some of the water forwgrounf up to where the reflection starts?

I know this spot, Boora Parklands, and I think this is a good shot. Given the location and subject there is not really a lot you can do composition wise but I like the mood you have captured here, the reflection is nice and you have managed to keep some detail given the backlight. This is really the only side you can make good use of the light, particular subject and features.
Did you shoot any of the other sculptures/monuments here by any chance?………….Mikka

Looks great Aedan, I wouldn’t touch this at all.

dar_d, I’ll try removing some foreground and see if it improves it, good idea.

Mikka, You are spot on, it’s Boora Bog all right. That train kind of gives it away. :D I did take some pictures of the other sculptures but the light was bad all day, the sky opened up just for a few minutes at sunset. I was with Harry Reid and he has some up on pbase at http://www.pbase.com/kilkenny_photo_society/boora_bog and http://www.pbase.com/irelandphoto/boora_bog. I have some others, if there is something specific you are interested in let me know.

    Andy, thanks for the reassurance!

Thanks to you all for taking the time to reply.

I’d leave it as it is too but maybe it’s a natural phenomenon but the trees are all pointing to the right…maybe windy? Overall it’s a nice job…just don’t force it any further.

I like it, I would have liked to see a portrait version though

Hey, I hadn’t noticed that about the trees. Rest assured it’s a natural phenomenon and nothing to do with photoshop or ahything like that. Probaby the wind as you suggest.

    Thanks for the comment.

I’d leave it exactly as it is too. Very nice, and a good title too…

Agreed … this would place the horizon off-centre..great shot though …
