I know it is a well photographed subject, but I’m hoping that if I keep going back, sometime it will all just ‘come together!’

In this case I am pleased with my composition, but feel the sky lets it down a little. What do you think?

I like it a lot. Gorgeous light on the rocks and I’m not seeing a problem with the sky as is.
    Spot on!

That’s nice Stephen! That’s around sunset right? With no clouds, not going to be very exciting…been there many a time praying for clouds (not at the causeway but elsewhere!). Did you stick around until after sunset? The sky has a tendency to go purplish with blues & all sorts of colours then, sometimes, much nicer than actual sunset, you will lose the light on the actual causeway though.

I’m just back from a trip to Utah, and was amazed at most of the spots, that as soon as the sun set, everybody left….but then the sky got super mega and some of my best stuff was made then! Always worth hanging around…but it doesn’t always happen!

Looks fine to me too. After moving it up and down a bit I realised that amongst the dirt on my laptop screen, I can see a few dust spots in the sky. Looks like you need to take the Jeyes Fluid and wire brush to your sensor!

No issues with the sky rendition Stephen, the focus is on the main subject anyway. Nicely captured.

    Hi Stephen,

I think this is very nice.
    Good composition.
    Lovely light on the rocks.
    Nice colour.

I suppose if we had the same photograph but with a nice cloud arrangement it
would be easier to decide which might be better.
As it is I’m not sure that this image suffers at all from lack of drama in the sky.
In fact I have a feeling the sky suits the image.
Just one opinion of course. :)

    Well done.

    John.

Thanks for taking the time to comment folks. Good work spotting the dust spots!
