OK I’m not particularly a film buff or whatever and I don’t tend to feel strongly about films one way or the other but I have to say this film is ABSOLUTELY S##T. Good god I don’t want to know how much went into making that because it would only depress me. Ignore me, I’m just venting my annoyance.

A question I would also ask is, how did “No Country for Old Men” win an oscar(s)?

It was ok, nothing great though.

Will take advice an avoid “The Happening” though.

Are there any good movies out there at all?

I could say the same about JUNO which was nominated for 5 oscars and cost about £7 million to make ! It was mildly funny with a very predictable story line, after 15 mins you could of guessed the rest of the film.

As for the Happening it got such bad reviews i wouldnt of went in the first place ! Every critic in the country hated it lol

Felt the same way about ‘There Will Be Blood’ as I did about ‘No Country…’, some good solid performances but not really that engaging.

Preferred No Country to There will Be Blood , There will be Blood started off brilliant but just went haywire after about an hour.. Although No country is nothing near Fargo.

Have yet to watch 10,000BC and In Bruges

In Bruges is actually pretty good. Its the only film I’ve seen in a good while that I got a good laugh out of.

Watch 300 it has to be one of the best from last year !

I don’t do cinema too much, but ine film which did leave a lasting impression on me in recent years was “The Constant Gardener.”

I went to see “Gone Baby, Gone” on Friday and although weak in places, I thought it good overall, with several interesting twists throughout and finishing with quite a thought provoking dilemma.

One of the best I have seen in a while was Caché…. amazing film… seen it on DVD about a year back… Got another foreign one last week called 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days…. again a fantastically well made film if a little hard hitting.

As for No Country… I really enjoyed it…!

Richie if you enjoy foreign films look out for “The Lives Of Others ” absolutely brilliant . Have another one called “Days Of Glory” but not got much time to watch it yet.

I know this is not new at all, but I really enjoyed watching The Pursuit of Happyness (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454921). I would call that a memorable movie.

‘Be Kind, Rewind’ is somewhat funny. Another one that I really liked is one that I had never heard of – Walk On: The Dewey Cox Story (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0841046/). Its just awful really, but very funny all the same!

Check out The Machine Girl (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1050160) if you like blood and stuff..! :D

I too enjoyed “The Constant Gardener”. “Crash” is another stand out film for me from the past few years.

I rent a lot of DVDs and you often have to sell your soul to the Devil… and pick up some junk.

I do find myself drawn to a lot of Denzel Washington films lately. “American Gangster” was a bit of a let down for me. Almost two seperate stories that you hope come together but don’t. “Inside Man” was one I picked up one evening and was pleasantly surprised… I do love a good bank robbery and enjoyed this. “Man on Fire” I enjoyed too.

Mostly terrible stuff out there though… watched “I am Legend” the other night out of desperation. Crap.

Also watched “The Bank Job” which I expected to be pure junk… some lame acting… but fun due to the fact it was based on a true story that is almost too good to be true!

Glad to hear 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days is a goodie, have it at home and looking forward to watching it.

Constant Gardener, Man On Fire, and Inside Man were enjoyable – I’d agree about American Gangster, nothing new or compelling about it.
