The Lomography Diana+
-
davedunneParticipant
So as you probably have heard by now, Lomography have released an updated versions of the Diana camera called the Diana+. My one arrived in the mail on Thursday.
Today I took it for a stroll around Santa Cruz. I haven’t scanned in all the frames yet (they are still drying in my bathroom) but I couldn’t resist scanning a few shots.
More later (hopefully).
MarkKeymasterReally like that last one Dave, very retro.
How does the Diana+ compare with the version you currently have ?mgstParticipantFintanParticipantdavedunneParticipantMark wrote:

Well first of all, since its new, the plastic feels stronger than the 40 year old plastic of my vintage models. There are also a few extras in the new model (the “+” part): The lens screws off the barrel to reveal a f/150 pinhole which is a nice feature. Also, the mask inside in removable so you can get 12 5×5 shots in addition to the usual 16 4×4.
Image wise I think it is very close to the vintage ones. It is not as sharp as a Holga, which I think was a concern for people (“is this just a Holga in a different box?”). My older Dianas have huge light leaks but I didn’t tape this one up at all and the only leak is what looks like a faint square of reflected light around each frame. I plan to paint the inside of the camera mat black to try to reduce this.
I suspect that demand for vintage Dianas may drop on eBay because of this so if anyone wanted to pick one up, it may be the time (although bizarrely there is one new Diana+ going for nearly 3 times the price you can buy it from Lomography. I wonder did people not read the description properly).
I only have photos from one roll so far but right now I really like this camera.
EddieParticipantDave. Does look the business. The lens looks a little sharper than an older Diana, but not as sharp centrally as a Holga. The car close up is a fine example from it. In time I am sure we will find users sticking older lenses into the newer cameras.
davedunneParticipantEddieParticipantGood images, great colour and contrast, It handles colour really well, they are quite sharp though.
