Found this rather giant fella in my garden the other week, it was about 2 inches across!!Great to get something that close, marvellous dof. Only a shame about a few things, two of which you couldn’t really do anything about – the blown whites in the background and the leaf obscuring some of your view. The other thing that’s slight off here is that your clearest point of focus is actually the far front leg, which leaves most of the rest of this speciment a bit soft. Still, you do what you can on the spur of the moment before the little bugger flies off. Despite the obvious flaws I quite like it. Fine specimen.

Perfect positioning in the frame and crop. I think Rob has pretty much summed up the critique. Good to see to experimenting :)
thanks for the comments guys, really appreciated, yeah it was actually on my side gate so i got a branch and managed to get it to clamber onto it without flying off and then i took the photo, didn’t get a chance to recompose and refocus cuz the fecker had flown off.
