Hi Just looking for a few comments on this photo, could I have done it better? If so what could I have done?

    Thank you

Main problem with this shot Brendan is that it’s slanting to the left. When shooting a scene containing horizontal or vertical lines, it’s even more important than usual to ensure everything is straight. Your image also seems to be a little flat or washed out and looks like it could do with a bit of basic post processing with levels etc. or even just increasing contrast and saturation a little. It might benefit from some slight sharpening also as in my opinion anyway it appears to be a bit soft. Finally, and this is only an opinion, I feel it would have worked better with the path running off the image at the corners. By the way, shooting in bright sunlight like you did, is probably the worst time for an image like this as it’s very hard to avoid ugly shadows like the ones on the left of your scene. Nice while you’re standing there but not great for getting a shot with any impact. Obviously there are exceptions, like a field of yellow rape and such like.
Anyway, I hope I’ve come across as being helpful rather than critical – but you did ask :D

A polarizing filter might also be an option!

    Hi Brendan,

Apart from the slope I think it’s quite good.
This is quite easy to fix but better to keep stuff straight if possible.

I like all the lines in it and the lines of trees framing the path to the cross.

Very good comments by Mark and that kind of critique is great to see.

    Cheers,

    John.
