The Pass of Glencoe (2nd shot added)
-
Gary McParlandParticipant
Another from my Scotland trip. Took lots of shots of this scene but only got this drama for a few minutes and nearly missed it as i had left my new £25 umbrella lying on the ground 50 yards away and ran back to get it :( Luckily the light hung about so i could snap off a few exposures.:) it was a very difficult scene to shoot and i have ended up manually merging a couple of exposures in PS.
Madra RuaParticipantWas there last week and got nothing but rain and clouds… soooo jealous.
Class shot Gary. Great job blending the exposures.5faytheParticipantHi Gary,
This is a lovely scene.
The light seems to be tumbling down the valley. (Not very technical I know)
Well done.
John.
Gary McParlandParticipantGary McParlandParticipanthere is another from the same evening about 20 mins later and down lower in the valley looking up towards the 3 sisters.
wesleylawMemberGary,
Whatever way you process your images they both have your mark. Top class.
The first one… either the foreground is too bright or the mountains left and right are too dark. If the foreground was a bit darker it would add more of a sense of drama or mystery. The shaft of heavenly light could still reach your feet. Second one is beautiful. Lovely light.
andy mcinroyParticipantTwo very nice images Gary,
The first is perhaps a little overprocessed for my tastes, but I still love the lighting on the hillside.
I love the more natural tones in the 2nd and the ominous feel of the mountains. I’m not sure it necessarily needed that boulder but I like this nonetheless. The clouds above are very dramatic.
aoluainParticipantYea the first would have been a nightmare to expose right.
good job with the blending but I feel it is edging a bit
towards being a cartoon, maybe bring back the saturation a little. The second is really beautiful, lovely contrast between the foreground and clouds.
Gary McParlandParticipantCheers guys, appreciate the feedback. The first was tough to get right in processing but i wanted to make it work as it was the only light i captured on that mountainside. waited for ages and it never appeared the same. I might have another play with it when i get a chance.
The second i am personally very happy with and im glad you like it. :)Regards
Gary
