The Petanque Match – Brive la Gaillarde – 2 versions

I spent an fantasic few hours chatting with, photographing and eventually playing petanque with these guys while in Brive last may (wife is from there). It was a great travel experience.

I was back in Brive in September for the Leinster – Brive rugby match and went back to the square found the guys in the same spot. I had promised that I would come back if Brive drew Leinster. I gave the guys prints of some of the shots I had taken in May. It was a lovely moment.

Anyway, here are 2 versions of the shot. Which do you think works better?

I think the colour works better,as you can see the different characteristics of each of the men. You cant seem to get that with the B&W.

Also the colour of the clothing suits the green trees which frames the three friends.

Natural poses work best, well done, I would say they were delighted with the prints.

Colour for me too. I love b/w but this shot is a warm summer shot…and I think the colour suits it better.

    Fantastic shot either ways.

Did you take any individual portraits? The guy on the left end of the bench looks like a really interesting character.
