The Plassey, Inisheer – another PI outing offering

Yes, you’ve guessed it – it’s that shipwreck that’s still on the feckin’ island. I tried desperately to keep this one viewable in colour – the only viable option was to convert to B&W but I think the saturation that is oh so easy here was pinned back.
t was interesting to read in Martins thread that the rather expensive and elaborate looking gates around the island came from the salvage from this ship. Photography – making history enjoyable!

Impressive Alan. I think you have the saturation spot on (ok, I’m not qualified to pass that comment ;) ).
Looks like you managed to get the only showing of blue skies into it also. I like the way the clouds
are drawing your eye into the boat (not that you could miss the boat of course :) )
Filling the frame definitely shows how imposing this beast of a boat was.

I have yet to see if I got anything worthy of display…

Thats really nice Alan. I would be very happy with this shot. Non of my digital colours were near as good as this one really well done

    Cheers Martin.

Sean – I took a couple of shots purposely with fellow hangover enthusiasts next to the wreck. I’ll post a couple to this thread this evening to show the scale. Suffice to say it’s feckin’ huge!

Very nice Alan. Nothing at all wrong with the level of
saturation here, and a nice change to see this one in colour.
You must give us a little run down on your sharpening
technique again; it really works a treat…

    Em…what sharpening technique

    Go to Image>Mode>Lab Colour
When this is done go to the channels tab (normally next to the Layers tab on the pallete)
Click on the lightness channel to isolate it from a & b (this will turn it B&W but that’s the idea). Sharpen this only but be careful not to over do it. Trial & error is needed.
Then just select all Lightness, a & b to return to colour.
Then go to Image>Mode>RGB to take it all back.

This works for web images. You’ll need to play a bit further if you want to print to get the best settings.

    Hope this helps.

The plassey head on. The guy on the right, if I’m not mistaken is Padraig (Podge). He was half way along the Plassey and this shows the scale of the wreck.
