i took a spin through the Sally Gap earlier. The weather wasn’t great, shocking windy! and cold. So i pretty much stayed in the car, took my shots from there  . not fully sure if they’re abstracts? can’t really call them landscapes i suppose. this is my first attempt at doing diptychs, i always thought it’d be more difficult to do( i’m rubbish with photoshop). ps. i was driving at around 10mph taking these

    Hi Niall,

I have come back to these a few time hoping that some
more expert member migh comment and educate me with
    regard to diptychs.

No such luck so I had to do a bit of study myself.
I found it an interesting subject and an ancient one too so thanks for that.

I am still not too sure what I feel about the images.
I wouldn’t be a fan of motion blur which may be me being preprogrammed to
regard it as something to be avoided by keeping the camera steady or using
    a tripod.

You may have intended it or liked what you saw after the event and who am
    I to argue with that.

I don’t dislike them and will probably come back to look again.

I applaud you trying something new to you and thank you for getting me to
    investigate something new to me.

I would seriously argue against using a camera while driving a car however
    slow one is travelling.
The possible consequences for yourself or maybe someone else if something went
wrong are not worth any photograph.

    Cheers.

    John.

Well not too many of this type of photo doing the rounds. I looked at these and also left without commenting. I like the idea behind them and they do have something about them that I like, but just can’t be sure what exactly it is. I don’t drive, but I would imagine it is quiet difficult if not kinda dangerous to be trying this on bendy roads in the mountains at night. Did you secure the camera to the dashboard or were these handheld?
Not sure which is the proper side of the road to be driving but these look like you were in the middle. :D

thanks for the comments. first off let me assure you I am not one for dangerous driving or taking stupid risks. the camera was secured on the dashboard and i was using the remote with my left hand, ie my gear changing hand, in between gear changes(at 10 mph..and with no other cars about). i didn’t need to take my eyes off the road,i didn’t look at the shots as i took them, it was no different to changing the radio station or heater settings.
as regard the pictures themselves or the concept, they should be taken with a pinch of salt. i hadn’t set out to make diptychs, it was only after i got home i had a fiddle around with them. i’m not one to waffle on about symbolism or meaning in my photos, these mean nothing. i just like how they look, photography doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.

But again, sincerely, thanks for looking.
