The seagull accident

I know, you must be bored to death with my italian pictures now, but I would like to ask you about this one. This is a typical accidental image, when a seagull flies across the frame and it doesn’t look all bad when you look at the photo later. At least, I liked the position of the bird. Basically I was shooting the guy in the window, sipping wine and looking down at the angry masses of tourists… this is what I got. I am still not happy with these high contrast color pictures, but you just can’t ignore the colors in Venice… Any comments, tips to improve the image?
I think the seagull is a red herring-
I definitely would have taken another-
