The colour is obviously the big thing here-
I suppose I don’t have too much attachment to antiques like this,
so I’m kinda not won over by the content-
but I do find it to be maybe a bit obvious-
perhaps if the pump was smaller in the frame it might have been allowed to relate to the background more?
Though, obviously, I don’t know what else might have been in the background, so I’m just making it up,
but I think a little more space might have been good…
Nice play on the matching colours miki, and you framed the subject well.
The pump is not unusual in itself, but your treatment of it makes the shot worthwhile.
Joseph. You are quiet right in that I probably should have given more space around the pump. It was at the side of a pub called “the tap” and may have been better to have included the pub itself.
Ken. Yes it was the matching colours more so than the pump itself which attracted me to take this and I liked how the flowers were growing around it.
Looks great to me if you like pictures of old pumps. If I were to nitpick to my liking I’d crop the right side off pushing the pump more in that direction. I’m also very much interested in the text on the metal shaft. Something to play with maybe? Tweak your lemons and maybe up the saturation a few notches to give it a bit more ‘wet’?
Some good suggestions there Nossie. I will dabble with it & see how it turns out. The pump looks a bit soft to me but it could be the camera I was using. but more than likely my eyes.
