Since Wonka put together the last Top 10 (not NFL endorsed I might mention)… well, he really took the wind out of my sails with that one. It took me a while to recover, the lameness of it… but here’s the lastest NFL Top 10 –

10. The comment “Great pic that must be some camera you have”
You might as well just slap me in the face. Anyone who tells this story usually retorts with a similar comment along the lines of “nice cake, that’s some oven you have”.
What surpises me is that some form of ‘Understanding the Art of Photography” debate never starts? People seems to save these sorta things for forums.

08. Cokin Filters (for Ballyman)
The very mere mention of the term ‘Cokin Filter’ really gets our Ballyman going… that damn Magenta cast. I can just imagine this Magenta coloured Hulk like character demolishing the Cokin factory.

I never did get this one personally. A film v digitial debate around these parts is almost as taboo as discussing the death penalty
06. “It does nothing for me” critique
If it does nothing for you why the bloody hell did you go to the effort to write as much… the fact that you went to the effort to write the damn comment sorta contradicts it.

Usually results in a public demonstration and the person responsible for the competition never being seen again

01. Can you photograph my Wedding for €300?
This worm has been dipped in the river so many times now… and it always gets a few bites.
These ones always end up as a lesson in the morals and ethics of Photography as a business.
As for those lucky student photographers… they get their pick of all the best nixers. When I was a Computer Systems student at the University of Limerick there were days when I’d have cleaned the dust inside a thousand keyboards for the price of a few pints down The Stables bar… we never got any nixers back in those days… but I did do a stock check in Hughes & Hughes one weekend for £20 punts.
Many moons ago Iron Maiden gate crashed a wedding in Poland and ended up putting on a free gig for the newly weds.. well that day music died for me… and the day someone surrenders their art for €300 and a free meal… that will be the day that photography dies… unless of course it’s a relative with a 12mp Tevion Digital Compact from Aldi.
