I desided to play by take some photos of the trees at the other side of the quay as the sky was clear above the trees and I also tryed getting a photo of the moon in full view with is reflection on the water with the trees and start but it was to bright and did not look good. well it the clouded over a bit and some lite cloud covered the moon and I still had e reflection on the water and this is what I got

Very nice Tony, hard enough shot to get but your location looks good!
I love the sprinkling of stars, just as a matter of interest what camera settings
Did you use? I have attempted one star shot that I was half pleased with using
F2.8 at 14mm ISO 3200 and 30s shutter speed, though I think 20s would have been
better as I started to get get some star trails at 30s.

    Hi Jenny,

The setting I used that night was as follows and where on a D90 with 18-200mm

    ISO 800
    F-stop f/4
    Exposure time 30sec
    Focal set at 18mm
Aperture set at lowest for the lens was 3.6
    Metering mode set to spot
I had my white balance manual
    light source set as tungsten

    No Problem Jenny,

I am only learning myself at photos at night. I am going out on the 30th to get the full moon if I am not working that night. I have also got my fingers crossed for a clear sky
