The Walk to Work – Royal Canal Views
-
ImagineParticipant
Taken the last two mornings from the banks of the Royal Canal (Dublin 1). Snapped of hand held in low light so plenty to critique, lol.
They have prompted me to start a project (my first) entitled “The Walk to Work”. No prizes for guessing what it is about.
I know the one with the swans could be accussed of being overprocessed (to put it mildly, lol) but I’ve just discovered layers and was amazed by what a Duplicate – Colour Burn layer does to a pic. Anyone that hasn’t tried it should.
Ciao,

mgstParticipantReally like the first on great colours and the railway tracks act as great lead in to the photo.
At this size it looks quite good for a hand held shot.Mick
irishshaguaParticipantSecond picture for me is the best. The way the picture just seems to hold that bit of clarity for the swan in the foreground and then bring out the beautiful colours in the background. Very nice. A different take on the colours of the sky and I think you niled it. I’d be very happy with the work done on the second photo.
They’re all good shots though.
lousyParticipantI’d be very pleased with all three, the colours are fantastic and of course the framing adds to them also.. nice work..

RodcunhaParticipantHi there,
1st image,
Lovely sunrise colours, interesting composition but the final image isn’t that good in my opinion because of the lamp post or something that splits it in two.2nd image,
Good use of the portrait format, interesting composition but burned out highlights ruin what could have been an excellent image, I also think there is a bit too much post processing here, don’t know if it was intentional or not but just doesn’t do it for me.3rd image,
Overall the best one of the tree in my opinion, its well exposed the lead in provided by the railway is not perfect but works and there are some pleasent colours and not too much processing, though i only think this could probably use a bit more contrast (though this probably has to be done selectively or you will loose the shadows details). I’m not even bothered by the fact that the horizon was placed mid frame as it works well enough for me.That’s only my personal opinion,
All the best,
Rod
SeaviewParticipantOverall three very nice pictures, for me number one would get my vote. The colour of the sky is great and I like the way the railway tracks lead you into the picture.
