The second is made up of two adjusted curve layers, one for the sky and the second for the field,
and selective colouring for the sky to make it moodier.
Both are fabulous. I tend to look into the photo at the “life” it captures. (I think it also compensates for my lack of technical experince when it comes to photography!!) Can’t you just see the farmer proudly surveying his crop…. I’d be happy with that field!
Lovely shot. I too prefer the landscape version on your site. It’s got that kinda dusky light just before twilight. The light when you knew it was time to start heading home when you were out wandering as a kid!
That’s an excellent shot, Ali, lovely light, movement and mood about it.
I think the landscape version is even betterer; maybe try cropping it in a 8:3 ratio (cinemascope ratio, with the horizon lying about between a quarter and a third of the way up) to give it that widescreen big sky look. It works really well in square format too BTW, with the tracks through the barley slightly offset to the left.
