124 views and not one comment. Seems to be the way the site has gone over the last while.Less and less interaction.
Anyway Adrian, I will give you my tupence ha’penny worth.
I like the lighting and the tones here but as a composition it does nothing for me. Its just a picture of writing on a wall. If there was an other element here such as a person reading it, then it would add a lot more to the image and have the viewer thinking about it more. “Whats the relationship between the person and the names, what are they thinking as they read” and so on.
Also the pillar or wall on the down the right side of the image is extremely distracting.
The shot was taken while in Paris….. horrible grey weekend bar 4 hours on the sunday….. this was taken up at the arc de triomphe.
Shot was solely taken for the lighting, I liked the tones in the stone and the capture of the shadow across the names….In truth not much other thought went into setting up the shot as I had my wife pulling on my sleeve to take her shopping.
I did debate about weather or not, should i have taken out the pillar? I get what you are saying about creating some interest in the shot and I’ll bear it in mind for the next time, thanks for taking the time.
I agree, it is a shame the way there is a lack of traffic, critique on the site over the past while, however I think everyone is in the same boat, too busy trying to hang onto jobs, not enough time for photography / posting images….. which has a knock on effect of people not commenting because they are not contributing themselves.
