Never had any problems in Ireland…but the peace process has had an undesirable
side effect — it has increased ‘normal crime’…

Did have the car broken into when parked on top of a remote mountain in Italy, though
    and the tyre stilettoed :(

Best solution is to get insurance for your gear. I don’t take all my equipment with me if I go wandering from the car – once you get to a certain point your back would break if you tried. Most policies will cover theft if the car is locked and the gear was stored out of sight.

Makes for great peace of mind.

I remember a story I heard some where about a guy who was leaving his car outside a football ground
A few local kids asked him if he wanted his car watched for a tenner
the guy said sure my dog is is the car he will look after it
to which the lads said Can your dog put out fires mister……………

I liked the story about the tourist who put a note on his windscreen ” No valuables or money inside” When he returned the side window was smashed and another note was there, reading “Just Checking!”
