I suppose my questions is, at what point is it worth splashing out this amount of money on gear?.. branocIt’s worth it if you are going to enjoy it and get many years pleasure from owning such a superb piece of kit.
You will be buying a universally acclaimed camera with the best resolution (or at least a match for the Canon 1DS3) in the Canon range.
A full-frame sensor will trump an APS-C every time where image quality is concerned…but be prepared to invest in good glass as well.
Print really BIG every now and then – you will see the difference.
And don’t forget the professional grade movie mode!
If you can afford it, go for it.
We all of us spend money for the sheer pleasure the things or experiences we buy bring us.
You don’t have to justify them by looking for any other reason than the feel-good factor they provide.
You can spend €100 a head for a meal in a fine restaurant or €5 a head in McDonald’s. Both will satisfy your hunger but the fine restaurant will be the much better experience and one you will remember.
You can spend thousands on a really nice foreign holiday in a top class hotel or much less on a cheap apartment in the same resort. The former will be better.
You can spend thousands of Euro on a good car whereas a humble second hand model will get you to your destination in much the same time. Both are means of transport but the good car will give you a much better travel experience.
It would be a very dull life if we had to be “sensible” all the time.
Splash out, be extravagant, live a little.
You’ll be a long time dead!

Splashing out is one thing..bankrupting myself is another!
Still, when I win the lottery……

Surely that would depend on the planned size of media to be presented on? Or am I missing something?
