I pass through New Ross once a week and it always seems dreary. Brownie has posted a couple of nice Dunbroady shots, you should look them up.
One of the lads posted a shot of the Quay as part of the Gallaher project. Check out the comment by JMcL which I thought was quiet funny and almost certainly true:
You should see the roundabout they’ve recently put on the Ross side of the bridge… must have cost about €20 in materials and 2 hours labour… it’s a total joke.
New Ross certainly didn’t benefit during the Celtic Tiger and I’m not sure that Enniscorthy really did either… at least not from a jobs creation perspective, other than all the building work that was going on. Wexford Town got a KFC… it’s just not fair.
The church shots were taken on the same day.
Not sure what you could do to jazz that town up… but there is a nice view down onto the river in parts… but that restaurant /barge thing should be sunk… it’s a disgrace.
Check out the book “A time and a place – New Ross 1890 to 1910”. There’s some images mmof mthe church mmmmmmbeinmmg built. apparently Padraig Pearse’ father was involved in its building. Mmy mmmmmmmmmmmmmmcoputerm mhasm am stammmmerm anmdm Im amm mmmmmmmgettingm mmmmmmmmmmmmtired mof mdeletinmg M’s
