These were all taken at Donington Park in the UK,at Craner Curves for those who know the track, just beside the Spitfire

    V

    VI

    VII

Notes: All taken with my Nikon D70S using a Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 using a polarising filter in shutter priority mode. Focal length is approx 200-250mm, obviously the bottom one was done with the 18-70 Nikon kit lens. Only photoshopping done is a slight levels/colour/brightness adjustment in most shots. In the action shots I-V the cars are doing around 70-100 mph, and they are coming downhill over a blind crest so I had very little time to pan and then frame the shot. In VI the cars are braking at the end of Starkeys Straight from 120-160mph down to about 50 to go through the esses,a right/left flick onto the main start/finish straight. Since the cars were coming towards me I had to use a higher speed. VI is the silencer 1 of the cars had to use due to a 98db noise limit in force that day :? Quite an all round challenge and Ill be covering this series in 2007

Great shots Ed. I can’t believe the quality you are getting from Sigma 70-300. I have that lens and I wish I could take photos like this some day!

Oh and, Welcome on board!! :-)

Welcome Ed! Good to see more sports here.

On #4, the crop leaves more space behind than in front, unlike your others. I’m guessing you did’nt have as much space to play with on that lone.

All nice a bright and sharp. Looking forward to more!

    Nice job.

    Another petrol head here :D

I know from taking 1500 shots at TOTB last year that panning shots aren’t easy!!

No 7 and no2 take it for me due to composition.

On the others it’s “just a pic of a car” to me, and the composition doesn’t really jump out at me like on 7 and 2

Welcome aboard! Look forward to seeing some more from you.

    Tim
