FlipflipParticipantHow is that not a great photo?
Thats a great photo.
Id love to see it with a Holga type filter effect on it.

Oh, sorry! what is the filter? I’m really noob in photo theory and photoshop too.
I take pictures how I feel them and can edit them in photoshop a bit but I’d like to improve it of courseMartinParticipantVery nice shot. Really like the dog and the way his paws go over the edge of the seat, he looks really comfortable and i doubt if the train fills up with people that he will move for anyone

The holga filter is an effect that imitates a Holga camera picture. If you go to the Low Fidelity forum on this site, have a look for some holga shots to get the idea of what I mean. Its basically a cheap plastic camera that makes some wierd effects. Check it out.
Alan RossiterParticipantVera,
If this is what you call “not a great photo” the rest of us have no chance. It’s a great photo. It’s full of humour and warmth and technically I find it well executed. The point of focus is sopt on and you use the depth of field very well.
Is there any other photos you say are not very good??

randomwayMemberStreet photos are usually not perfect, but as the others said, this is still a great capture. The use of dof softens the image and brings the attention where it has to be…
RobMemberVery nice work Vera. Lovely candid shot, beautifully framed and exposed.
Well spotted. You have a good eye for a picture…Rob.
nfl-fanParticipantThis is a beauty… I love it… focus of the dog and DOF are spot on… the brown dog… the brown upholstrey on the seat… don’t know how to describe it but it just works well… there’s also something about travelling on the subway (assuming this is a subway and not a train)… being underground… it has its own special atmosphere…

Noticed the same thing about Vera’s pic’s as well, seriously good quality….
PeteTheBlokeMemberI like the picture. Vera’s certainly showing us parts of the world
beyond Ireland. The dog is priceless – I wonder if dogs have nationality?
Is he a Russian? Or is he just dreaming in pictures? As for Flip’s suggestion: I have serious reservations about trying to make
a Holga “effect” from a non-Holga shot. In the words of the great Johnny McMillan…
JohnnyMcMillan wrote:You do know people out there DETEST when people put holga-esque effects on photos……
(And before Vera asks, no, he’s not Russian, his strange English is probably just a result of the horror he was feeling).
ExpresbroParticipantGotta go with the rest on this. It’s not perfect..but it’s close…great shot, full of humour and really well spotted. It’s the sort of shot that could very easily win one of the myriad of photo competitions that pop up these days.
Great work..keep those candids coming.

8)VAubreyMemberThank you for comments! I couldn’t even know that you liked this photo but probably it should be so (I like it too, :D )
How did the dog pay for its ticket?
I’m not sure he payed for its ticket, lol. I often see dogs in Moscow metro who simply live there. I know a few years ago a sculpture of such dog was opened in one of the metro stations (Mendeleevskaya).
Is there any other photos you say are not very good??
Sure! I took picture of a street (for example) but then see a lovely scene in one of the corner (blurry and noisy often) so I make crop and get really rubbish photo but with a good idea, lol. Or I see a great scene but haven’t my camera with me but only my phone.
:D
