brendancullenParticipant
A church of Ireland organist rehearses some JS Bach at Wicklow Parish Church, Wicklow Town, Ireland.
Taken Friday 26 March 2010.
Canon 450D & a Canon 24-70mm F/2.8 L
settings ~ f/4, 1/60, ISO 200, 25mmSome levels,curves and B&W conversion in photoshop.
C&C always read and appreciated.
jb7ParticipantWithout the description, it would be difficult to know what was going on-
It’s a nicely composed image,
but a light above the keyboard might have helped to describe the activity without the need for a narrative,
and it wouldn’t have taken away from the composition-
the opposite, in fact, I think it might have enhanced it by adding a layer of complexity.Good tones too-
brendancullenParticipantThanks for your wisdom JB7 – and friendly greetings from Wicklow.
This was in fact to have been a ‘strobe’ session – with two Canon 430Ex’s placed at various spots under & around the organist. I have never tired a strobe shoot – but i thought this would have been a good expiriment as i’m familiar with the organ & church.
However – as i was all set to go – the wireless flash remote failed to work. The hotshoe developed a fault ( commonly seen in some canon DSLR’s with a hot shoe). The connector pin under the metal plate dissappeared – rendering any flash un-usable.
So – i was left with natural light – which is nice – and a darker organ side. I metered at the window – and re-composed.
I hope to revisit this scenario very soon as the hotshoe is now repaired.
There is a light above the organisist – which i should have asked him to switch on.
