definitely the first one because of all the different textures involved, but i can’t make up my mind if the plane streaks are a plus or minus (it feels as though there’s some kind of pattern trying to emerge from the parrallel lines but they’re not quite strong enough to pull it off). colours are gorgeous

    Me? Hah!

I like the first one particularly. I think that the foreground interest makes it, as well as the nice inky shadows. Obviously the sky is the focal point, but that balances things up nicely, with the reflections on the sand and the shadows.

The second one is nice, but it is just that, if you know what I mean – I think it’s the band of cloud just above the horizon that stops any highlights from getting to the water that is the let down. Next to the other two, it doesn’t stand out so much.

The third one I also like, it’s different with the bright trail from the plane, and there’s lovely detail in the sea. Looks like it was taken from out at sea, rather than the shore – it gives a feeling of being out there with nobody around for hundreds of miles. Obviously apart from the plane that just passed overhead ;)

It could be the monitor on my laptop at work here, but the last one is a little bit washed out, the sea would look fabulous with a bit more contrast to bring out the texture of the surface, and it would also make the colours in the sky that bit more intense. But as I say that could be the monitor, it’s driving me nuts when I upload a pic and look at it next day to find out it’s nothing like what I thought when I was at home. Grrr.

Yeah first one was y favorite too :)
I have more spanned similar to that.

Hmmm Ill try the contrast on the 3rd one.

And yeah middle one was “postcard shot” boring but pretty :)

    Thanks for the comments :)

Shrapnel, I dont think they were plane streaks I think they were smoke from businesses starting up early :)

 Very nice Jay. From what i’ve seen from your work so far these are my favourite. I love the first but i would probably straighten the horizon. I love the second, colours are so vivid and nice composition. Very nice, you should be chuffed with these :).

I like them Jay… I would also say the first is my favourite… Perhaps try bracketing a few exposure’s and maybe blend them in photoshop to keep some detail in the foreground… I do this all the time… it means you have maximum dynamic range (a bit technical..?)… Or even maybe try using filters to hold back the sky and keep the foreground a little brighter… Lovely shots all the same and a style that I enjoy myself…!

Waiting for a few ND’s and grad ND’s to do exactly that :)
And also so as I can get more silk from the sea on a longer exposure, without the ND I just get whitout at the exposure I want :)

I like them all, I agree best I’ve seen from you yet.

Only comment and its a small one is that the horizon on the first one is crooked ?

Aside from that, fantastic colours, I’ve never managed anything like it
