Mike TParticipant
Just took delivery of new D80 afeter many weeks of driving myself simple with the choice out there . Anyway went the D80 with 18 – 70 kit . Would like to start messing around with setting up cam manually . any good sites or tips would be great . :D
MarkKeymasterWelcome to the site Mike and well done on a great purchase.
You’ve come to the right place for some answers and help :)What sort of photography are you into ? When you say manually, do you mean getting away from
Program Mode for example or do you want to go fully manual, ie Manual (M) on the camera ?spudMemberD80 is a fantastic peice of kit but as far as tutorials go on video i dont think these is much out there. there is an ebook but i think its 40 euro or there abouts do a google on D80 ebook

Have you looked at this, its from Nikon, it might help
Good sooting with new toy
I have a few Nikons myself
steelydanParticipanttype D80 into http://www.youtube.com and see what comes up.Some will be helpful and others will be totally useless.
Mike TParticipantThanks for the tips guy’s .
Thanks Mark for the welcome . When i say manual i mean set shutter speed iso etc. etc. . the main thing i think first is to go out and use it and snap away happy and try and improve it from there a bit at a time .
AllinthemindParticipantMike I have a feeling that the D80 has autoiso turnde on by default, you need to turn it off in the settings menu else you’ll be wondering what’s going on! :)
Si
spudMemberin M mode if you hold down the button at the back, left of the LCD that says iso and turn one of the dials u can change the iso that way. same goes for the White balance
drkmoonParticipantHi – I am also a D80 user, i got a guide book for the D80 in waterstones, you can also buy online from Amazon -should cost about ?25. I also got a training DVD from Amazon for $25 but be carefull as if you buy from the usa it may not always work in your dvd player. Ebay is usually another good spot to get guides.
Hope this helps
regards
JerrycathaldParticipantType enjoy dslr into google and the canon site should be there im a nikon man myself but found this very useful, better still heres the link
http://web.canon.jp/imaging/enjoydslr/index.htmlspudMemberjust had a quick look trough it and it would seem to cover the basics and i thinks its very good not realy based toward canon users
gregorParticipantTry Tom?s Hogan?s guide to the D80 http://www.bythom.com/d80guide.htm , I came across one for my D200 I also own the Magic Lantern Guide but Tom?s guide is really good. The guide will not only explain all the features in your camera and how to use them but will also give you an excellent lesson about digital photography, highly recommended!
ExpresbroParticipantI’m probably a bit late with this Mike, but there is a Flickr group dedicated to the D80 which I’ve found to be excellent with lots of informative tutorials and articles from real D80 users. It’s at http://www.flickr.com/groups/d80/
I’ve found that the books can be, lets say, a little dry, and it’s always good to get the opinions of people who use the camera everyday.
Also remember there are now quite a few D80 users right here who I’m sure would be only too happy to pitch in
Good luck with anyway, I’ve had mine for over a year now and love it…it’s a great camera.
