see what you were intending deiseman, but I have to say I find them both a bit dreary :(
yeah they’re nothing special are they? i’ve only recently started taking pics and am interested in finding out
the insiders tips and tricks etc. any suggestions you might have i’d be glad to hear. i’ll probably end up posting
a lot of the same quality of pic up here. im reasoning to myself that the more i find out where i’m going wrong,
the quicker it’ll be till i can take a few decent shotsfirst of all, what makes a landscape image stunning or enjoyable (;
1. Play of light
2. Soecial mood of a landscape
3. the beauty of shapes
4. good camera technique to capture the full potential
5. story
6….you see there are many things which you can focus or recognize when they appear in front of you.
Your first image:
the base is good but your photographic skills can improve, brighter. you are playing with symmetry. But keep in mind that it becomes very quick boring. Extremes are good in this caseSuggestion:
brighter, i like the compostion, create a series with different point of views so that you have a bigger range to choose from, change the posotion and the size relation of the objects in the image….Your second image:
Nothing eyecatching in it to focus the eye! The people you hardly see and it could be something else, the light doesn’t tell a story!Suggestion:
You can focus on the relation between the people and the lonely beach. Give them space, landscape format, show the wide view and how small they are in it (that is the extrem which i mentioned before). The image is too dark. An asthetic structure are the clouds in the sky…..Enjoy
I don’t know but something appeals to me about the second image.
I think the small size of the people and the vast sky tells a story here.
I took the liberty of a conversion and removed some dust and a little sharpening.

with regard to the railings i was thinking maybe use the squares as a frame for something on the beach, or the headlands either side of the beach.
i’m out that way fairly often so i’ll give it a bash again.
the people on the beach, i quiet liked the idea of having them so small. i thought it kind of gave a sense of how solitary they seemed (when in reality there was bucketloads of people, dogs etc on the beach).
i don’t know if the darkness could be helped as it was pretty dark, and i’m still figuring out shutter speeds, apertures, the whole lot.
i liked the touch up, haven’t a clue about photoshop etc. at the minute i’m loading the pics into the microsoft photo thing on my laptop
