Took out the nifty fifty and had some fun using a max app…haven’t used it in years, but it just goes to show the little cheap gems that are in your camera bag :D :D :D

I can only ‘assume’ that you’ve done something to the eye in the first image Pat & to be honest if you have, I personally don’t like the effect.
I’m open to correction on it but I think it’s a little over done if it was.

Sorry, but don’t think I like the sharpness contrast between the two eyes in the first shot. It just looks odd with one eye so emphasized.
I like the second shot, very much so. Inventive angle and her expression is ‘transfixed’ alright. Well done on that :)

Nothing worth talking about really, the focal point was the eye of course and a very shallow dof of 1.8 so that cuts out the other eye which was my intention. The reflection is the tv in the eye. I also brightened the eye slightly. It’s all down to personal tastes.

I appreciate both comments and thank you for taking the time to look and leave a comment.

i’m a fan of short depth of field myself, 1.4 is way wider than any of my lenses allow! perhaps if the point of focus (in image 1) was a bit further back in the image it may have added a bit more depth to the scene but i like it nonetheless.

have you tried a B+W conversion? might be interesting

the angle of view in 2 is really nice

Thank you Isabella, I see where you’re coming from.
Your suggestion re b&w conversion could have merit, I will give it a go and see if I like it.

Many thanks for taking the time to look and leave a comment.

    Hi Pat

Love the nifty fifty canon 50mm 1.8 myself. The first shot tend to agree that depth of field is a bit shallow the far eye doesnt bother me but the nose does, I wonder if you moved back a little or slightly repositioned focus point would it help. The second shot is great really creative and nice to see trying different angles points of view.

Your grand daughter will be the most photographed little girl in Ireland soon :) and why not she’s very photogenic.

Thanks Jason, appreciate your input as always. I’m going to the studio in a few mins with my two grandchildren…AGAIN! :) Models are in short supply to beginners methinks  I’ll post some stuff later.
