Hi Saber. I’ve read some recommendations on here for gorillapods. Hanen’t used one of these myself, but good reviews for them. I have a Slik mini tripod, which I find to be excellent. When folded it fits nicely in my camera bag, It’s not heavy and has independant leg movement and they can be spread to allow you to work from ground level for macro etc. When extended, it is waist high, even though it seems quiet fragile at this height, I have used it with a 450D with battery grip and 70-300mm lens (which is quiet heavy) and it supported it without any problems except the ball & socket head was a little awkward to use.
For travelling I’d go with the gorillapod (or clone).
It’s a good balance between convenience and practicality. But make sure that you get a model which supports the weight of your camera (there are different sizes).
