Travel tripod required

    Hi,

I am a complete newbie and just getting to grips with my new toy. D300 and Sigma 18-200mm. I have a real interest in landscape and low light/evening shots so I think that a tripod will be essential.

I am going to Australis for a month and really want to ensure I get the best chance to take some wonderful shots and hopefulyy most will be keepers and not blurry.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a light but stable tripod. I am 6′ tall if that makes any difference. Budget set around 250 euro or so but as you guessed it, saving some money out of that would be nice.

    Thanks for any help,

    Daren

    These get very good reviews-
if I was in the market for a new tripod, I’d get one-
Comparable with Gitzo at a fraction of the price, so I’m told-

I did get one of their panning heads, and that’s good-

    Hi,

Thanks for that. I had not heard of these before. One I have had my eye on is Benro traveller

These are clones of Gitzos but also get good reviews, any thoughts?

I have a Benro, I’ve forgotten the number, but it seems as good as a Gitzo.
Their ball heads, however, aren’t the quality of others.
