    Hi Bertie,
Just from personal expierience i tend to carry on what i can,as you have mentioned those rumors do exist for a reason! I recently had to travel to the uk for a DJ gig (my other life) and they lost all my records of which some was very valuable however insurance covered nearly all, it still left me with having to rustle up a set all from friends collections dotted all over south london. I know two other who had this happen also with the same consequences. Is it that the handlers see stucco/alumin case’s and assume that the contents are of significant value? Who know’s there is oppurtuists out there! Good luck and Bon Voyage…

Good feedback margaret .. I’m sure there’s quite a few on-site with travels coming up. I know I’m visiting the UK in october so I’m hoping I won’t have any trouble with my gear. I normally just bring the SLR with a 300mm zoom attached when I’m traveling for a sports event, but I’m also hoping to do some sightseeing on another trip so I’ll want my shorter lens as well.

We had one fairly short and one long zoom – but they were no prob to carry through – you know how a camera starts to feel like a body part eventually…

Still, I’d never carry my day to day workhorses – an ELD and an ELX – it’s all I can do to get them from the safe to the studio
