Travelling with valuables

I will shortly be going on hols with carry on camera gear + laptop, with Ryanair.
It seems the way to go is to cram laptop and cameras + lenses into a light holdall type bag while going through checkin and security.
Has anyone up to date info on procedures?bethParticipantnot sure about procedures in ireland, but i just recently took a trip and i had to take the laptop out of the bag at security. they ran it through the x-ray separately. i didn’t realize this until i got up there and had the camera and a hoodie crammed into my carryon. so i had to take quite a bit out to get the laptop out of the backpack…
bethrandomwayMemberI travelled in Europe with Ryanair to a few places. I use a backpack and a light laptop protector case inside the pack. You have to open and turn on the laptop sometimes, but they always ask you to place it on the x-ray separately. You can put your cameras in the backpack and carry the laptop in a separate case in hand and tell them that you didn’t want to remove it all the times, but it will be in the bag…
Have fun!
digitalfotomanParticipantI travelled recently I took the lens off the camera and put lens and camera body in the laptop bag. I had no problems anywhere.
ciaranParticipantNo problems going with camera equipment and laptop in Ireland, Uk, Europe or US, be it on Ryanair or any other airline.
You nearly always have to put the laptop through separately (99.99%) of the time and on the rare occassion will be asked to turn it on.
Camera equipment can be scanned through whilst in the bag but on one occassion (Barcelona) I had to take it all out, and I do mean all, and scan them separately.
randomwayMemberI had to show the officers in Sicily how does my camera work, but when I tried to take a picture of them they invited me in a separate room and check my identity again. I had a 3 weeks beard and I look like an arab anyway :)
