Taken recently one evening in Ballsbridge. 13 sec exposure at f4.8. No tripod. so camera was sitting on a nearby wall.

This one isn’t for me Robbie .. The background is way too distracting, and I’m not crazy about the streetlights and reflections..

I think you exposed well (Did your flash fire? .. or was the tree lit ?) but the content doesn’t work for me

    Sorry :(

That’s okay Lorraine … I wanted to try something a bit different and I haven’t really done anything with long exposures yet. I didn’t fire the flash, the light on the tree would be coming from the street lights I suppose.

I actually like the colour of the sky and the light on the tree, but I agree about the background clutter. It’s given me an idea to try something similar in a more rural situation though where there might just be the river, the tree and the sky…and that SB600/800 fired remotely ..when I get it :-)

Absolutely fair play for having a go, :D … considering the ambient light I think you did very well on exposure as I said … I’m sure there are plenty out there who will love it .. :D

and for the rural location ….hmmmmmm .. very nice idea.

The colour’s nice and rich. It doesn’t appear straight to me and the cut bits are too prominent.

I’m liking it, but not 100%.

    Thanks

Robbie, from previous excurions I know how hard this sort of scene is to shoot.
It is a real case of practice makes perfect.lutt
I agree with Lorainne that your technique is very good as far as the exposure goes but that the subject and choice of angle
isn’t up to your new high standards.

Still it’s always fun to just go and shoot what ye see.
